About me

My job is providing skillful, personal service to people ensnared in the justice system. I’ve worked as a criminal defense attorney for most of my career, some as a public defender, some as private counsel. I’ve handled all sorts of cases, from infractions to capital murder, and every stage from preindictment to petitions for certiorari in the United States Supreme Court to federal habeas corpus.
You can see me at the Oregon Supreme Court’s webcast of oral argument in State v. Phillips on June 13, 2012. Phillips is a companion case to State v. Pipkin, and Mr. Pipkin’s attorney, Susan Drake, argued first, so my argument appears to begin in the middle.
